Passion Quilt Meme

Ok… so it’s been a while since I’ve been tagged in meme. But this one seemed up my alley and after working on slides for a few new presentations this weekend, I knew exactly upon seeing Michael’s challenge which slide I’d use.

Fueling curiosity is perhaps the most important focus I think libraries (& individuals) can have. For from the outcome of feeding a hungry mind, one gains knowledge and acquires wisdom.

Find ways to continually fuel your curiosity & stay young. That’s my motto & passion. Nuf said.

Tagging: Steve Champion, Chrystie Hill,, Tony Tallent, Lori Reed & Aaron Schmidt.

How about you ... what's the passionate message you'd like to send to libraries and its young (and future) users?

I'll say what I always tell my colleagues and workshop attendees, and anyone else who'll listen:
Don't forget to have fun! If it's not fun, it's really not worth doing, and frankly, no one else will ever want to do it with you.

This is very true with reading aloud, doing storytimes, puppet shows, workshops, storytelling, Summer Reading Club, cooking, raising kids, blogging . . . the list goes on and on.

I can wholeheartedly agree with this statement. If it weren't for the encouragement of Emerging Tech and Learning 2.0/2.1 I really would feel every day of my age. Even when laid up after foot surgery and complications, continuous learning has made life so much easier.

Personally, I cannot imagine not being curious about something! My problem is having pen and paper available every time something tickles my curiousity bone so I can write it down. I find telling myself that I'll remember to look into that or look it up is a joke as I will probably forget (until way later) as so many other things come up that I want to investigate.

Encouraging staff and customers of all ages to engage in the pursuit of curiosity is (I think) one of our jobs. How can you be bored in a library?!? We got stuff!!! And we have access to more stuff - all you need is an imigination and a sprinkle of curiosity.
